Tips for healthy nails

The nail, an attachment of the skin, is a horny, transparent plate that protects the tips of the fingers and toes. Onyx is the technical term for the nails. The condition of the nail, like that of the skin, reflects the general health of the body. Therefore it becomes very important for a person to take care of the nails. It has even been proved that if the nails are not taken care properly then it can even lead to different nail disorders and other health problems. A normal healthy nail is firm and flexible and appears to be slightly pink in color. Its surface is soft, arched and unspotted, without any hollows. There are different ways or methods that can be used like different products available in market. We can also pamper our nails by using various cosmetics manufactured specifically for nail care.
There are important tips that need to be kept in mind:
One should keep the nails clean and dry.
Nails should be cut straight across and rounded slightly at the tip
Use sharp nail scissors.
Avoid biting fingernails, and do not remove your cuticle.
Avoid “digging-out” ingrown nails, especially if they are already infected and sore. Seek treatment from a dermatologist.
Report any nail irregularities to your dermatologist. Nail changes, swelling, and pain could signal a serious problem.
Healthy nails are transparent and look pink in color as a result of the blood beneath them.
If you wear nail polish on a regular basis then, take them off for a day or two every week, in order to let your nails breath.
Add shine to your nails by massaging coconut oil or warm castor oil on to them.
If you do not like nail polish then apply dry soap to your nail use lemon peel for a similar result.
Dip a cotton-tipped swab in hydrogen peroxide to clean under the nails and whiten them.
Before giving yourself a manicure dip your nails in a cup of warm water with one tablespoon of lemon juice.
The look of the nail can always be enhanced. One can use nail enamel to even beautify them but it can even hide the nail defects. Nail polish remover use should be minimized as it has a dehydrating effect on the nail. . A Regular massage of skin around the nail with a moisturizing cream can strengthen the nails.
It important to have healthy nails. The color of your nails is an indicator of your general health. Your nails are a part of your body too so you must take good care of them.Maintenence of nails is very important and for that it is necessary for women to strictly follow the tips mentioned above.
