Day make-up for Christmas

With Christmas approaching, everyone is busy decorating homes and making preparations for decorating Christmas trees, to make them look perfect. Apart from your house and surroundings, if you want to look in for Christmas, even you have to sport the perfect looks. So it is important for you to wear the right make-up when you step out of your house. During the day time your make-up should be simple and casual and not much loud with bright colors as they look better in the evening. While wearing your make-up you should keep in mind the kind of outfit you are wearing.

The casual chic make-up is in for the day time. This look is for an afternoon out of doors. It could be skating at an outdoor rink in the center of the city, sledging or singing Christmas carols with the people of your neighborhood outdoors. Whatever be your choice for the day, you are going to need the right make-up application. For the lips, wear shades of light pink or browns or even a transparent gloss will do if you want it to be really simple. Don’t wear reds or shades of purple and shocking pink during the bright sunny day. It looks really over and flashy to the eyes of the people. So, the trick is to make it look simple yet sweet. As for the eyes, wear neutral eye-liners during the day time like the traditional black or shades of brown. Brown shade gives you a younger look while the black makes you look more matured. For finishing touches you can apply a little bit of black mascara. Keep the colored ones for the evening. A touch of light eye-shadow over the eyes can complete the eye job. Don’t wear oil-based glittery ones during the day as they tend to smudge and it is not the right choice to make if you are planning to go outdoors and have fun. The ones with powdered base are preferable.

Avoid wearing thick foundation base during the day as it may get spoilt during the many activities at day-time. A single touch of blush will be sufficient. Shades of brown look good on your cheeks during the bright sunshine! Don’t wear long dangling earrings; instead wear small studs with funky patterns during the day. They are in this season! Keep the flashy and dangling ones for the night. A wrist-fit bracelet will complete your day look.

So, follow the right steps and sport the right day look this Christmas.

GET AN INSTANT MAKEOVER

Many people go in to the salon for a certain look and come out feeling cheated. The problem here is communication. So here are a few tips you need to keep in mind before you hit the salon.

SEARCH A STYLIST
Has your regular stylist been giving you the same cut for the last year? It’s time to switch. Visit two or three salons and ask for a consultation with a stylist. From the very first consultation you will know whom you are more comfortable with. Even then commit only to the person who takes your face shape, hair texture and the look you are going to consideration. Then take a “trim only” test. If you like the results, go back for the big change.

ASK. ASK, ASK

If you are not sure of what you want, but your stylist has something in mind, ask questions before your hair is cut. A recent article in a newspaper had a picture of a re-bonding treatment gone wrong. You don’t want it to be you. So ask questions. If the cut suggested sounds like too much of an effort, try a different option, or stylist.

CARRY PICTURES
Not only this is a great way for a stylist to know exactly what you want, s/he can also advise you on whether your hair has texture and face shape would take the style well or not. Re-creating the look at home is the thing to keep in mind here.

GET COMFORTABLE WITH STYLING PRODUCTS
Every cut has at least one key product or tool needed for maintenance. Ask your stylist what yours is. Splurge on it for the first time around, and later ask for less expensive equivalents that are available in the market.

SPEAK UP

The most important thing for your stylist is that you are happy with your look. That’s what will make you come back. Don’t be afraid to say exactly what you want when you go in and if there is something about the finished look that you do not like, say so before you leave.

DO NOT DRESS UP FOR THE SALON
Many people dress up I anticipation of a new haircut or color. Do not make that mistake. Dress like yourself, wear the make up, clothes and accessories that you usually do. That will give the stylist a sense of your personal style and therefore s/he would be able to recommend a cut or style that is perfect for you.

So go on, be adventurous, have fun. Do not be afraid to try new, different styles and colors. After all, it’s the best instant makeover.

ON THE EYEBROW BEAT

Do not take risk by changing shapes of your eyebrows frequently as this can make a lot of difference to your face.

To make your eyebrows more presentable just keep in mind some points-

Drop the years- Did it occur to you that the wrong shaped eyebrows could add an additional five kilos and if that isn’t bad enough an additional five years? If you aren’t convinced take a trip to the market and do a little people watching. You will be amazed at the eyebrows you will see!

No more eyebrow raising- The next time you are out, glance at a few foreheads. You will probably see a lot of horizontal lines, and it is something that can be prevented or at least slowed down. And how do you do this? Stop raising your eyebrows a few zillion times a day. This is simply a habit that can get out of hand. And don’t go trying to create an arch, when you don’t have one. You will end up with unnatural looking brows and even worse therefore the arches could be different over each eye. Tidy up unruly hair, but work with what you have.

Who would have thought?
Did you know that simply pulling a t-shirt could ruin your eyebrows? Tiny hairs suddenly go in every direction. Get into the habit of grooming your eyebrows with each makeup application. Beauticians agree that the space between your two eyebrows should be the same as the size of one of your eyes.

Big brows
You can’t change them so think about tidying them up. Remove any hair between the brows and those that are beneath but straggly. If they are sparse, fill in as directed above. Did you know that well groomed eyebrows can actually open up your face? It’s true and they can also help lift deep set eyes or make small eyes look larger.

Tweeze right
Pick a natural light source for your tweezing.
Place a warm wash cloth over brows for 5 to 10 minute. Exfoliate brow with a wash cloth to help free up any in grow hair.

To emphasize
The natural shape of brow, use a brush and a little bit of gel on them.
There is another great little product available to hold the brows in place-colorless mascara! Works great.
