Aroma for Beauty

We have become so dependent and used to chemicals in our lives that we have forgotten the bounty nature has provided for us. I mean just look at our lives, we use chemicals for everything, got a headache pop a pill, see a pimple slap some cream, have wrinkles get a botox injection, weight gain take a diet pill (or god knows what other chemical laced concoction) falling hair no problem -the hundreds of products filled with gazillion chemicals are going to set everything right-Right!

Not that all chemicals can be replaced but for beauty treatments especially please try to go natural as most (if not all) chemicals are causing us to grow and look old long before our time.

One alternative for beauty care is aromatherapy—yeah a lot of natural oils which actually do have the power to make us look beautiful and young.

Aromatherapy is not a load of rubbish and from my personal experience I can safely say has changed my skin, hair nails, into that of a teenager ( and no I’m not telling you my age, suffice to say teenage was a looong time back) has actually been around for centuries, the ancient Egyptians used plant oils for such things as cosmetics, relaxation and embalming. In ancient Greece they used herbs and aromatherapy oils for healing and also for cosmetics.

These days a lot of spas and saloons are offering aromatherapy treatments like massages, facials, hair treatments, anti-aging lotions, skin therapies etc. You can even try aromatherapy products at home as they can also be found in shampoos, creams, soaps, candles, oils, lotions, and make-up.

Here is my list of favorite oils and why.

Tea tree-antifungal, anti-yeast, antibacterial. Absolutely great for hair problems, especially dandruff

Geranium-balancing to mind and body, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory. Try a massage with it, you’ll be putty afterwards.

Frankincense- skin care, hair care, anti-stress. Do I need to say more?

Jasmine- mood uplifting, aphrodisiac, muscular pain, anti-stress. Try it in the bedroom.

Patchouly- skin care, anti-aging, mood uplifting, aphrodisiac. An absolute must for fighting wrinkles

Ylang Ylang- sleep aid, mood uplifting, anti-stress, pms, aphrodisiac. Another bedroom favorite of mine.

As far as possible one should avoid chemicals and instead go for things that are natural and have no side effects. The above mentioned oils can work wonders if used regularly.
