![]() |
The markets are storming with the name of this newcomer called ‘mineral make-up’. Everyone’s hearing it everywhere but on one has an idea what actually is this ‘mineral make-up’ or why is it used? Some of us might have even gone out and bought it! But there are some essentials you ought to know before you go out buying them. Read on!
Well mineral make-up as the name suggests are make products made up of natural compounds other than synthetic elements which damage our skin if used excessively. Owing to the fact that make-up now a days is an invariable part of our regime, the popularity of healthy products which saves our skin from getting affected has tremendously gone up.
My prime concern to point out over here is that not all the products labeled ‘mineral’ are truly mineral in nature. Yes, this might come as a shock to you but some mineral products available in the market may not bring you the benefit you’ve been looking for through it.
Let me tell you why?
This is because some mineral make-up products contain a power called titanium dioxide which if inhaled causes symptoms experienced by asbestos exposure or in extreme cases might even lead to lung cancer. Thought it is safe when used in the form of cream as it prevents the particles form going inside our body. So make sure that, before you go to buy this stuff, you read what written on that tiny paper stuck to these products.
However, you should also know which ingredients form these products so that it becomes easy for you to know which one’s the right product. So the components to watch for include propylene glycol and diproylene glycol. These are odorless as well as colorless. They are safe and simple fragrance carriers and are most often found in skin care products. You may also see dimethicone, a silicone based polymer found in these items as well. Ideally, it is an anti foaming and a conditioning agent but does not harm the skin as it is a skin protectant as well. It is neither toxic nor flammable and is mostly inert having little to no ability to react. Another popular element is Silicone which is very commonly found in cosmetics.
Since it the skin which is at stake, we simply can’t afford to take any risks. Hence the next time you go out to pick some mineral make-up for yourself, you know exactly where to see and buy!
