How to identify your skin-type!

Starting a healthy skin care regime first starts with having a fair knowledge of what is your skin type. This is because no two women have the same skin and there’s a yawning gap in the way a particular skin type is treated from the other. If you employ any skin measure to save your skin from suffering without knowing what your type actually is, you can worsen the condition of your skin as well.

So here’s a way to find out how our skin type truly is:

Firstly you must know that the broad categories skin types have been divided under: These include dry skin, normal skin, oily skin and combination skin.

In order to determine your skin type, first wash your face with a mild soap-free face wash .Then, after 30 minutes, press a clean thin tissue against your face such that it gently touches your forehead, nose, cheeks and the chin.

• Now if you see that the tissue is showing no trace of oil, then you possibly have a dry skin. Another way of knowing whether you have a dry skin or not, is by observing if your skin is rough or flaky. If yes, then yours is a dry skin for sure and is prone to premature fine lines and wrinkles.

• If your skin is oily in some parts but dry in others, then you have a combination skin and need to be extra careful in taking care of it.

• Normal skin usually looks smooth and is not prone to break outs unless the environmental conditions are extreme or you are hit with too much stress.

• Oily skin feels oily when touched and tends to shine all the time. Another way of knowing it is, it is easily prone to blackheads and pimples around the nose and the chin.

• Sensitive skin needs special care, as it might be allergic to some ingredients found in cosmetics or even some fabrics ad food items. So those with sensitive skin should always use beauty aids that are hypoallergenic so as to protect their skin from any kind of allergic reactions.

Hence knowing your skin type with help you frame a regular skin care programme, adapted to the needs of your particular skin type will go a long way in keeping your skin radiant and problem free!
