Winter Season is a stressful time for your skin. It is during these cold months that your skin gets sandwiched between cold outdoor temperature and low humidity indoor levels. Thus it is important to take special care of your skin.
The best way to keep your skin healthy in winters is to keep replenishing its moistre.The 2 grounds for winter skin care- choose milder cleansers and richer moisturizers.
Kick start the process by avoiding long hot water baths as they make the skin dehydrated. Rather take tepid showers with moisturizing body wash and remember to apply moisturizer on your skin within 3 minutes soon you finish your bath. This helps trap water in the upper layer of the skin thereby decreasing dryness and itching. As far as your face is concerned- wash it with lukewarm water with mild facial cleanser.
Another important point to be kept in mind is to keep your body well hydrated. Drink at least 64 ounces of water in a day. Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Use a scrub meant for your skin type once a week but –Be gentle.Dont avoid using sunscreen of SPF 30 or more.
4 simple tips to take care of your skin in winters:
1. STEAM: Night is the best time for skin care. Before going to bed just keep in mind to cleanse your skin of the entire make up as well as the environmental residues gathered during the whole day. Use a facial steamer or a cloth soaked in hot water, wring lightly and bring the cloth close to your face, keep it there for 1 or 2 minutes and let the steam penetrate to open the pores.
2. CLEANSE: Splash warm water on your face and neck. Take appropriate amount of skin cleanser, mix some water to it to get some creamy lather. Massage this onto your face and neck with soft fingers for about 30 seconds. Then wash it with lukewarm water and gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
3. TONE: Dampen a piece of cotton with an alcohol free toner and gently wipe your face and neck area. This will remove the left out residue. Toning also closes our pores, preparing the skin for its moisturizing treatment. Alcohol free toners are far gentler on the face of your skin especially important during winters.
4. MOISTURISE : Apply a small amount of moisturizer on your face and neck in an upward, circular direction. Do not over apply.
