Before we read any further, it is important for us to note the meaning of pimples, causes of pimples, and how to treat pimples so that each one of us has a clear understanding.

What are Pimples?

A pimple or a zit is a form of acne that is caused by excess oil being trapped in the pores. The body pores have sebaceous glands that produce sebum. The dead skin cells left behind after the outer layers of skin have shed become ‘glued’ together by the sebum that results in pore blockage. The sebaceous glands produce more sebum that builds up behind the blockages and the sebum facilitates various bacteria to cause infection and inflammation.

How Pimples can get aggravated?

It is important to note here that pimples can get aggravated by irritants such as hair products, pollutants, and makeup that is not labeled as noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. Pimples can also get aggravated by pressure from hats and headbands or the friction caused by touching or rubbing the face. They can also aggravate by exposure to the sun, habits such as popping pimples, overzealous scrubbing, or hormonal changes.

How Pimples can be treated?

Pimples can be effectively treated with acne medications recommended by a dermatologist. It is very important for you to note here that you should NEVER try out acne medications on your own without receiving a qualified medical advice.

Some of the popular anti-pimple medications are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, nicotinamide, and antibacterial agents such as Triclosan.
