Acne!
![]() |
Acne – the most dreaded skin condition we try and stay as away as possible from! However, there are many types of acne that occur on our skin, each having its own property unique to itself. Hence once we know their nature, it will be easier for us to cure them as the remedy to every lesion is different.
Acnes differ on the basis of their severity from being simple blackheads to nodules and cysts. Here are some common types:
Comedo — The most common of all acnes, a comedo is a sebaceous follicle plugged with sebum and dead cells from inside the follicle lined with tiny hair. It may also contain bacteria at times. We all know it by the name ‘blackhead’. This happens when the comedo is open because the surface of the plug in the follicle then has a blackish appearance. When it is closed, the comedo is commonly called a whitehead which we know is either whitish or skin-colored. It looks like an inflamed ‘bump’ in the skin.
Papule — A papule is another type of acne very small in size, mostly 5 millimeters or less. It looks like a small perforation on the surface of the skin.
Pustule — A pustule is a dome-shaped, fragile lesion filled with pus typically consisting of a mixture of white blood cells, dead skin and bacterial cells. If a pustule is formed over a sebaceous follicle it usually has a hair in the center. That’s how you can identify it.
Macule — A macule is not exactly an acne but a temporary red spot left by an can which has already been healed. This might not be new to any of us. We all see it as a flat reddish pink mark on the skin with a well defined border. A macule might stay on the skin for few days to weeks depending on the nature of the acne. However, it does disappear in time. Having many macules on the skin can make a face look inflamed.
So here we are! On the basis of knowing the exact nature of these follicles, you can look for its cure accordingly. If the condition of your skin looks a tab to extreme, then do not apply any cream unless shown to a good doctor. Ideally, the key to having a happy skin is to drink lots of water and keep yourself free from all kinds of stress.
